What happened to SLBC Muslim Service?

Dear brothers/ Sisters
Assalamu Alaikum,

Did you notice that SLBC (Sri Lanka Broadcasting Cooperation) has cut down Muslim Service air time and blocked many programs. Now they are broadcasting Qirath, Tharjuma, Qasaadah and recorded programs. As it was raised many times, Muslim Service was highly commercialized and run to satisfy certain influential people. Now Allah has taught a lesson to its officials and people who misused it. They didn't think that working in this field as an Ibadah or it has a spiritual value.

They broadcast everything for money and good-will of certain people. Any program could be aired by anyone who could spend few thousands or has an influence on director or other responsible people. No policy. No ideology. No vision.

According to some SLBC officials, the ongoing issue is also a result of an announcer who exploited the Muslim Service to earn big money from sponsorship program.

This is a big loss for our community as far as Dawa is concerned. A large number of Muslims, specially women were regular listeners of these services and gained vast Islamic knowledge. Not like magazines, books, internet or any other modern tools, radio is a very very effective Dawa tool which can be accessed by either educated or uneducated.

Therefore, it is the responsibility of any Sri Lankan Muslims to concern about this matter and strive to restore this valuable Dawa tool. Please contact those who are in SLBC and inquire what can be done to undo the error and open this huge 'Door of Dawa'.
Wassalam
